Handling & Storage

CASO is available in many different forms of packaging.

Solid products

The crystals are delivered either in 25 or 50 kg watertight sacks on non returnable covered pallets, in non-rigid containers (bulk bags) or in bulk.

Crystals are easy to store in bulk in raised silos which enable automatic unloading and filling via pneumatic lines.

They can also be dissolved directly on arrival.

Sacks can be stored outside, although preferably under a tarpaulin or shelter.

To avoid any damage to the sacks when handling :

- Hold the sacks at both ends.

- Only use trolleys fitted with a pallet wide enough to support the whole area of the sacks.

- Make sure that any conveyor belts or roller belts that are used do not have any projections that could tear the sacks.

Dissolving the crystals

The easiest way to store CASO is to pour 50 kg of CASO into 80 litres of water. This gives you a 33% solution of CaCl2.

Do not under any circumstances carry out this operation in the opposite direction, i.e. pour water on to CASO as this creates lumps that are difficult to dissolve afterwards.

The temperature of the solution will rise considerably during the dissolving process as it is exothermic.

Solutions

CASO can be delivered in bulk by truck or specially adapted tanker as a solution with a concentration of between 25 and 42% CaCl2. To avoid the risk of reforming crystals during transportation, the 40-42% solution of CaCl2 is delivered at a temperature of around 50°C from the factory and should be kept at more than 18°C before being diluted on arrival at the client.
